About the Role
The Urgent Response Services program at Surrey Place is seeking an Instructor Therapist to provide individualized ABA treatment in the community for children and youth up to age 18 with Autism and other Developmental Disorders. The role focuses on direct assessment, treatment implementation, and building parent/mediator capacity for urgent cases requiring up to 12 weeks of support.
Responsibilities
- Deliver individualized ABA assessment and behaviour treatment for clients eligible for urgent response services.
- Train mediators in interventions to stabilize behaviours and improve parent coping under BCBA supervision.
- Collect and track data during assessment and treatment sessions.
- Graph and summarize data for review.
- Prepare program materials in a timely manner.
- Establish and maintain positive communications with families, mediators, and other professionals involved in the individualized service plan.
- Work evenings each week and Saturdays.
- Travel extensively within the City of Toronto.
Requirements
- 6 months of previous related experience.
- Knowledge of applied behaviour analysis, autism spectrum disorder, and child development.
- Previous experience working with children and youth with challenging behaviours.
- Ability to lift and transfer 50lbs.
- Successful completion of Safe Management Group training for de-escalation and personal safety.
- Provide an acceptable Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365.
