About the Role
This position is well suited for someone with at least three years of relevant experience who is looking to take on a key support role within a busy corporate practice. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of contributing effectively to a collaborative work environment.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with articles of incorporation, amendments, amalgamations, dissolutions, continuance, arrangements, etc.
- Preparing and drafting correspondence and resolutions.
- Preparing and filing PPSA registrations and conducting searches.
- Assisting with corporate reorganizations, restructuring, mergers & acquisitions and financing transactions.
- Preparing closing agendas, transactional documents, and document books.
- Liaise with clients for examination and review of corporate records.
- Working on multiple transactions and matters simultaneously.
- Perform administrative functions related to the practice of law including, file opening and closure, docket entries, client list updates, billing coordination, expense processing, and invoice payments in accordance with firm accounting policies.
Requirements
- Law Clerk diploma from an accredited college or completion of the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario Certification.
- At least three (3) years of relevant work experience in corporate law.
- Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with lawyers and other members of the team.
- Professional, proactive, and able to exercise sound judgment while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to take initiative and carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
