About the Role
The House Coordinator is responsible for coordinating nursing activities and providing clinical and supervisory leadership for the Department of Nursing across multiple units, including Med-Surg, ICU, Emergency, Surgery, and Oncology. This role involves close collaboration with other departments to ensure optimal patient care, adherence to organizational standards, and direct patient care as needed. The House Coordinator also serves as clinical backup RN for specialty areas and must possess knowledge of relevant healthcare regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate activities and provide clinical and supervisory leadership for the Department of Nursing for a specific shift.
- Work closely with all departments to coordinate services necessary for optimal patient care.
- Contribute to the vision, mission, and strategic plan of the organization.
- Ensure accountability for the Standards of Care and Practice in areas of responsibility.
- Perform supervisory duties and charge nurse duties on the medical/surgical unit.
- Provide direct patient care as needed in any department during her/his shift.
- Make rounds to patients on the Medical Surgical unit and ICU every shift.
- Make rounds to all Nursing departments in the Medical Center at least every four (4) hours and as needed.
- Serve as the clinical backup RN to the specialty areas (ED, ICU, ONC, and PACU/SDS).
- Possess knowledge of CMS (HCFA) standards specific to Critical Access Hospitals, New Hampshire Department of Health guidelines, New Hampshire Board of Nursing rules, and the rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Standards of Nursing Practice of Weeks Medical Center.
Requirements
- Current registered nurse license in the State of New Hampshire.
- BLS, ACLS, and Basic Dysrhythmia course certifications required.
- Critical Care course required; must complete within 6 months of hire if not already possessed.
- PALS and MOAB certification required within one year of hire.
- NRP, TNCC required within 2 years of hire.
- Current clinical experience for at least five (5) years required.
- Strongly prefer at least two (2) years of experience in ED and ICU.
- Must orient to both the ED and ICU to function as the second RN in either department if prior critical care experience is lacking.
- Excellent interpersonal, conflict management, and time management skills are required.
- New hires are required to attend a mandatory three-day orientation at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster, NH.
- Eligible for travel reimbursement if Weeks Medical Center is not your designated home base.
