About the Role
Mentor Coordinators support Youth Service Managers by training, supporting, and recruiting volunteer mentors from college campuses. They will primarily assist with Village Mentoring to provide holistic support for mentees, aiming to reduce the Opportunity Gap and systemic inequities.
Responsibilities
- Ensure volunteer mentors understand the Village Mentoring model and their roles.
- Communicate with the Regional Director for mentee needs assessments.
- Encourage communication and partnership between the community, support staff, and mentors.
- Ensure volunteer mentors are provided with resources and training for high-quality mentoring.
- Build relationships with every volunteer mentor and mentee of the supported chapter.
- Aim to build a robust chapter with well-trained mentors and mentees.
- Ensure a 1:1 ratio of mentors and mentees.
- Conduct strategic planning for chapter wellness, including recruitment and preparation for graduating mentors.
- Support compliance of youth documents and background checks.
- Attend weekly Village Mentoring program meetings.
- Communicate with mentors and the regional office team weekly.
- Attend a weekly experience/support meeting with their team.
- Serve for the entirety of the academic year.
Requirements
- Must be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the U.S.A.
- Be at least 17 years of age at the commencement of service OR be an out-of-school youth 16 years of age at the commencement of service participating in a program.
- Agree to Criminal History Checks (NSOPW, Statewide Criminal Repository, FBI fingerprint-based).
- Identity must be verified with a government-issued photo ID.
- Commitment to the entire service term.
- Commitment to the mission of AmeriCorps and DREAM.
- Desire to enhance existing skills and develop new skills necessary for service.
- Commitment to serve as a role model for youth.
- Passion for supporting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
- Demonstrated practice or education serving diverse communities or populations of people of color in an equitable, respectful, and aware manner.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time and set priorities.
- Ability to regularly meet in person with their team or service assignment.
- Responsibility for transportation to and from service locations.

Location
- Multiple spaces including professional office, indoor/outdoor environments with children and students, community centers, classrooms/campuses, and homes of members/participants.

Salary/Compensations
- Biweekly payments of $309 (pre-tax living stipend)
