About the Role
As a Backend Engineer, you'll play a key role in turning our trading models into robust, production-ready systems, helping Tibber trade smarter to provide better prices and a more reliable energy experience to customers. You'll work closely with our forecasting team, bridging trading decisions and real customer impact.
Responsibilities
- Build forecasts that support Tibber's trading operations
- Bridge model development and production-ready backend systems, working closely with the team building our ML models
- Support both our retail trading and flex trading domains
- Work hands-on with time series data
- Collaborate closely with traders who act on your systems' outputs daily
Requirements
- Strong Python skills and experience building backend systems in ML-heavy environments (production ML, not just notebooks)
- Hands-on experience with time series data and forecasting
- Know how to move ML models from development into reliable, production-ready systems
- Proactive and entrepreneurial, comfortable owning your work end-to-end in a small, high-impact team
- Communicate well with both technical peers and business stakeholders
- Background in energy, utilities, or financial markets, or experience with .NET is a plus, but not required
- Motivated by AI and excited to grow with new tools and ways of working
