About the Role
The Senior Legal Counsel, Procurement role supports Haleon’s Global Procurement organization, handling strategic deals and projects. This position provides legal support and expertise in commercial transactions for indirect procurement, with a focus on complex Digital & Tech and Marketing deals.
Responsibilities
- Review and/or draft, analyze, counsel, and negotiate large strategic indirect procurement transactions, integrating legal knowledge with business understanding.
- Act as a point of escalation on non-strategic but high-volume indirect procurement transactions.
- Provide oversight and advice on playbooks, templates, and processes for indirect procurement contracting.
- Negotiate and custom draft other legal documents related to indirect procurement.
- Implement operational excellence projects in indirect procurement contracting.
- Research, review, and interpret new or pending legislation and regulations impacting procurement contracting.
- Collaborate with teams across Group Legal to deliver a unified message.
- Partner proactively with the head of Indirect Procurement and collaborate with other Functions and Operating Units.
- Work with Business Owners, Procurement, and Haleon’s litigation team in disputes and litigation efforts.
Requirements
- UK qualified lawyer
- Substantial experience in commercial contracting
- Solid understanding of legal concepts in contract law
- Experience in drafting and negotiating information technology and digital services contracts
- Experience in drafting and negotiating marketing agency, consulting, and other professional services contracts
- Good knowledge and experience of how in-house lawyers collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Excellent communication (oral and written) skills
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of Haleon management
- Ability to work under pressure, manage numerous and changing priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently as well as in a team environment
- Key soft skills: influencing, empathy, analytical thinking, taking initiative, prioritisation, pragmatism, solutions-focused approach and resilience in managing ambiguity
- Must be able to attend Haleon’s UK offices in Bankside, London at least 2 days a week (may move to 3 days required)
