About the Role
The Protein Procurement Strategy Manager will develop and execute sourcing strategies to enhance cost structure, product quality, and supply chain reliability, while supporting innovation through new product development. This role involves overseeing the Poultry supply chain, managing vendor relationships, improving ingredient quality, and optimizing sourcing processes to deliver value to customers.
Responsibilities
- Refine and implement a sourcing and supply chain strategy for the Poultry category to optimize process, reduce risk, and improve cost structure.
- Build and maintain a strong supplier base aligned with company values, owning relationships with strategic suppliers, including performance management and innovation.
- Leverage internal datasets and industry benchmarks for continuous improvement, cost reduction, and best practice implementation.
- Develop a culture of continuous improvement through data-driven reporting and project management.
- Partner with the culinary team to prioritize and develop new products.
- Develop and mentor a team of indirect reports.
- Serve as the subject matter expert in Poultry sourcing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, supply chain, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of related work experience in supply chain, operations, management consulting, or strategic sourcing.
- Direct experience in the Canadian Poultry industry.
- Strong knowledge and interest in strategic sourcing and continuous improvement processes.
- Experience leading and developing a team of direct and indirect reports.
- Analytical and problem-solving expertise, with strong Excel skills.
- Ability to influence and communicate strategic plans to stakeholders at all levels.
- Proactive, ambitious, and assertive with a strong sense of ownership.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and passion for solving complex problems.
