About the Role

We are seeking a practical, organized, and proactive Business Support (Technology and Workplace) Officer to provide essential facilities, workplace, and business support across Outward. This role is not a specialist IT position but requires confidence in using everyday technology and supporting colleagues with basic equipment and system queries. The postholder must be able to work independently, use initiative, prioritize competing requests, and follow issues through to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate confidential waste, shredding, and records archiving processes.
  • Administer the Amazon Business account, including user access and purchasing controls.
  • Administer the main office telephone system and liaise with providers.
  • Administer staff mobile phones and service phone contracts, maintaining records and reviewing usage.
  • Issue and track laptops, mobile phones, and other equipment, maintaining asset records.
  • Support colleagues with basic setup, connectivity, and troubleshooting queries.
  • Coordinate office supplies, operational equipment, post, and deliveries.
  • Liaise with facilities providers on office issues and service requests.
  • Support safe working practices and emergency procedures within office environments.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in a facilities, workplace, office support, or business support role.
  • Experience coordinating practical office processes such as confidential waste, shredding, archiving, post, office supplies, equipment, or supplier queries.
  • Confidence administering business accounts, systems, logs, or records accurately with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience providing basic first-line IT or digital support, including issuing equipment and assisting colleagues with setup or troubleshooting.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for tracking, record keeping, assets registers, logs, or reconciliations.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and follow issues through to completion.
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach and the confidence to use initiative in a standalone officer role.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain practical or technical issues clearly to colleagues.
  • Understanding of confidentiality, GDPR, and data protection principles.
  • Must have access to a smartphone capable of receiving SMS messages and installing authentication apps.
  • Right to Work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not provided.
