About the Role

We are seeking a Junior Consultant for IT Security/Cybersecurity to join the Policy and Science team at the Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (GI) in Berlin. This role involves diverse and challenging tasks at the intersection of politics, business, science, and civil society, with a start date of November 2026 and a fixed term until February 2028.

Responsibilities

Work on cybersecurity issues within a network of research, business, public sector, and society.
Support the project management of the cybersecurity team, including projects like PROTECT (ÖvIT) and 'Digitalisation and AI in Electricity Grids'.
Collaborate on scientific research and analyses.
Prepare and conduct workshops and events, both content-wise and organizationally.
Contribute to content for press and social media (public relations/science communication).
Develop scientifically sound courses of action, position papers, and statements for politics and business.
Develop studies and analyses on current cybersecurity policy issues as needed.
Monitor political debates on digital topics.
Engage with stakeholders in science, politics, administration, business, and civil society.

Requirements

Passion for cybersecurity and related topics such as AI, digital sovereignty, digital citizen rights, and data protection.
Initial project management experience (e.g., through work experience, internships, student employment, or university projects).
Willingness to learn coordination and documentation of projects with multiple academic stakeholders.
Interest in science-based policy and societal consulting.
Ability to present complex issues concisely and understandably.
Analytical mindset and interest in contextualizing political and technological trends.
Independent and proactive work style within the area of responsibility.
Good organizational skills.
Team player with enthusiasm and enjoyment of networking.
University degree in a relevant field (e.g., political science, humanities, social sciences, or technical/natural sciences).
