About the Role
This role provides dedicated support for a global bank's secure, complex network environments, working within a team of experienced Network Security Engineers and a 24x7 NOC. The position involves direct customer interaction and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Create and modify device configurations for switching and routing products.
- Create and modify firewall configurations and policies for various vendors (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc.).
- Monitor, manage, and support secure, complex network environments.
- Perform daily network health checks.
- Support internal teams on Business As Usual (BAU) projects.
- Ensure timely response to incidents, changes, and service requests.
- Update design documentation, Visio diagrams, and SolarWinds maps.
- Collaborate with internal teams, NOC, SOC Analysts, and vendors.
- Share information, improve documentation, and train other engineers.
- Handle occasional out-of-hours working and on-call escalations, including out-of-hours changes.
- Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams.
- Raise and chase issues with market data leased lines and provider networks.
- Support connectivity issues for multiple trader platforms.
- Troubleshoot cloud connectivity (Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI) and VPCs.
- Support and troubleshoot multicast.
Requirements
- Cisco CCNP Enterprise certification or equivalent experience.
- Fortinet Certified Professional - NSE 4 certification or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable competence and capability in a L2 & L3 network support role.
- Confident working knowledge of Cisco FTDs and ACI, Palo Alto, VPNs, Fortinet, routing and switching administration via GUI & CLI.
- Experience in four or more of the following areas: Firewall Management (Cisco FTD, Palo Alto, Fortinet Fortigate), Cisco ACI; Nexus and Catalyst Switches and Cisco IOS Routers, Cisco Identity Services Engine – ISE (Tacacs, Network Access Control), Load Balancing (F5), Riverbed Steelhead, Monitoring (SolarWinds), Wireless Lan Controllers (Cisco), Complex Natting.
- Experience with market data / trader platforms / cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI).
- Ability to cope successfully under pressure and with shifting priorities.
- Ability to communicate fluently and confidently to a high standard in both written and verbal English.
