About the Role

As a Marketing and Public Relations Manager, you will oversee all public relations activities, including developing PR strategies (including crisis management), planning, promoting, and executing specific tasks, and managing the team. You will also collaborate with global teams, develop and promote various promotional initiatives, and lead the overall marketing function as a member of the senior marketing team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and promote media relations strategies, and oversee media interviews and media events.
  • Formulate overall PR strategy and execution plan, including mid-term roadmap, annual activity plan, and focus media.
  • Design, manage, analyze KPIs, create materials, and report.
  • Respond to media interview requests and acquire publicity through media outreach.
  • Plan and manage media events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with editors and reporters at key media outlets.
  • Oversee crisis communication.
  • Build relationships and propose initiatives with internal executives and relevant departments for various tasks.
  • Utilize and manage external resources such as PR agents and vendors.
  • Create and review press releases and executive comments.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and global teams, and oversee the approval process.
  • Review various external communication materials.
  • Plan and promote branding initiatives.
  • Plan and promote PR activities for the Japan office and focus business areas in coordination with other teams within the department (e.g., advertising, social media, promotions).
  • Oversee PR and marketing activities in collaboration with global teams.
  • Manage team members' tasks, development, and performance.
  • Manage team operations, including team member task management, development, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with executives and relevant internal departments.

Requirements

  • Over 8 years of corporate public relations experience or client work experience at a PR firm.
  • Extensive experience building networks in media relations (newspapers, magazines, TV, etc.) for business use.
  • Experience in creating, editing, and supervising external communication materials such as press releases.
  • Native-level Japanese language proficiency.
  • Business-level English proficiency, TOEIC score of 800 or higher, or equivalent.
  • Crisis communication experience.
  • Experience utilizing PR agents.
  • Experience using generative AI and various digital tools in business.
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative analysis, creating reports from analysis results, and management reporting.
  • High motivation and ability to build good relationships with the media.
  • Ability to communicate smoothly with team members, internal departments, and global teams.
  • Strong ownership and leadership to drive tasks.
  • Flexibility to learn and adapt without being bound by past experience or methods.
  • Ability to make flexible judgments and develop teams and tasks with a positive attitude and mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High sense of contribution to the organization.
  • Ability to manage, analyze, and share information using various digital tools.
