About the Role
PlayStation is seeking a Custom LSI Development Engineer to design, develop, and evaluate custom LSIs for PlayStation products. This role involves contributing to the entire development lifecycle, from specification to mass production, and collaborating with global partners to create competitive LSIs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and evaluate custom LSIs used in PlayStation products.
- Determine LSI specifications by considering the needs of product planning, hardware, software, and game developers.
- Collaborate with external LSI development companies for joint design and development.
- Verify and evaluate prototype chips to ensure they meet required functions and performance.
- Support product implementation by cooperating with hardware and software departments.
- Conduct quality improvement and defect analysis after mass production.
- Understand hardware at a low level (cache, memory, bus, I/F) and approach logically for specification and verification.
- Create and evaluate evaluation programs using C/C++/Python for LSI verification and evaluation.
- Develop competitive LSIs using cutting-edge architectures, IPs, and semiconductor processes with top-tier LSI Design Houses.
- Focus on maximizing performance at optimal cost.
Requirements
- 3+ years of development experience in one or more of the following areas, or equivalent practical experience:
- Digital LSI/SoC design, verification, or evaluation in areas such as microcontrollers (ARM/TrustZone/DMA/Timer, etc.), memory, bus, peripheral, high-speed I/F (USB/HDMI/DisplayPort, etc.), analog, power, or security.
- Development and evaluation of systems, hardware, firmware/software using LSIs.
- Specification definition, technical review, and problem analysis of LSIs/IPs.
- Driver development and experience in developing/evaluating evaluation programs/scripts (C/C++, Python, etc.).
- Software/firmware development experience on OS like Linux.
- Ability to read English specification documents and conduct email correspondence in English.
- Ability to perform basic technical Q&A in English with overseas development partners.
- Experience in discussions/negotiations with overseas external companies and internal teams.
- Experience in organizing issues and driving them to resolution through discussions with stakeholders for the assigned area.
- Experience in analyzing causes and proposing solutions for technical issues based on facts such as specifications and measurement results.
