About the Role
Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their team in Japan, focusing on exciting renewable energy projects including offshore and onshore wind, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and solar projects. The role involves design, owner's engineering, and technical advisory support for global projects, with a focus on Japan and the Asia Pacific region.
Responsibilities
- Manage project delivery, including design, engineering studies, owner's engineering, and advisory services, leading project teams.
- Provide technical reports and explanations to clients and stakeholders, who may be technical or non-technical.
- Offer technical assistance in electrical, mechanical, or civil fields, guiding project teams and transferring knowledge on the Japanese market (equipment specifications, local codes and standards, regulations, legislation).
- Liaise with wider Asia offices to ensure a collaborative approach to project delivery.
- Manage client relationships, lead projects, and provide technical leadership across the region to key Japanese and international clients.
- Collaborate with Mott MacDonald offices to develop, capture, and deliver opportunities in core business territories and sectors with key Japanese and international clients.
Requirements
- Degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering and/or Qualification of Professional Engineer.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience, with a preference for renewable energy projects.
- Experience in Wind, BESS, and solar projects is a plus.
- Experience on BESS projects, or willingness to upskill in this area is a plus.
- Project management skills and experience in an international, multicultural environment.
- Willingness to travel as required by projects and business opportunities.
