This role involves leading the product engineering team to ship beloved products, staying hands-on with prototyping and bug fixing, and ensuring a high quality bar for reliability, security, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Drive team outcomes and lead product engineering to ship products people love.
- Stay hands-on by prototyping, fixing bugs, de-risking projects, and improving engineer quality of life.
- Ensure product quality, including reliability, security, performance, and polish for millions of users.
- Own software end-to-end, including deployment, reliability, and production operations.
- Grow engineers through clear feedback, creating opportunities, and maintaining high performance standards.
- Build a talented, diverse engineering team by attracting and hiring exceptional engineers.
- Partner closely with product and design, providing judgment on product appeal.
- Set technical direction for the product stack and make architectural decisions for simplicity, reliability, and speed of development.
Requirements
- Managed engineers and led teams through complex projects to successful outcomes.
- 10+ years as a software engineer.
- 5+ years managing a team of 5+ engineers.
- Full-stack product engineering experience with depth in scalable web infrastructure.
- Experience building products on distributed systems serving millions of people.
- Understanding of reliability engineering.
- Keen sense for product taste and what makes a product feel great.
- Software engineering focus with a passion for secure, reliable, well-crafted software.
- Experience building a product from zero to one, or as a core engineer on a transformative project.
