About the Role

As a Procurement Specialist in the Mita Purchasing Department, you will contribute to business growth through product purchasing (equipment, reagents, consumables, service parts, etc.). You will be responsible for placing orders with overseas affiliates, managing delivery times, and overseeing the process from local shipment to domestic warehouse arrival. Your goal will be to meet customer delivery deadlines and continuously improve KPIs.

Responsibilities

  • Promptly and accurately place orders with factories and distribution centers of overseas affiliates.
  • Manage the entire process from shipment to arrival.
  • Continuously monitor the latest delivery times and proactively provide information to internal and external customers.
  • Collaborate with customer service teams at overseas affiliates' factories and distribution centers to facilitate prompt shipments and product allocations.
  • Negotiate and escalate issues as needed.
  • Manage and improve the performance of overseas affiliates' suppliers, factories, and shipping sites to reduce import document discrepancies, damage to incoming goods, and expedite credit invoice acquisition.
  • Meet customer desired delivery dates and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to achieving internal sales targets and KPIs.
  • Actively collaborate with planners, customer service, sales/marketing, and quality assurance departments, and maintain close communication with global teams.
  • Cooperate in achieving inventory value and waste reduction targets, and proactively take necessary actions.

Requirements

  • University degree or higher (preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Business, Engineering, or related fields).
  • Graduate degree is a plus.
  • Over 3 years of practical experience in supply chain or operations (direct/indirect purchasing, procurement, etc.).
  • Business-level English (TOEIC 800 or equivalent).
  • Business-level Japanese (JLPT N1 or equivalent).
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication skills for timely information sharing and collaboration with customers and internal/external stakeholders (in English and Japanese).
  • Ability to understand urgency and importance, prioritize, and solve problems.
  • Proactive and positive attitude towards new experiences and learning opportunities (Learning Agility).
  • Mindset to challenge changes and improvements without complacency.
  • Over 5 years of experience in supply chain or purchasing of company products is desirable.
  • Experience using SAP or other ERP systems is desirable.
  • Experience leading business process improvements is desirable.
  • General knowledge of accounting and finance is desirable.
  • Experience creating and updating SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and WIs (Work Instructions) is desirable.
  • Experience as a team leader of a small team or as an instructor for temporary staff is desirable.
