About the Role
This position leads import operations for Sika Japan, ensuring stable and efficient import of raw materials and products from both Sika group companies and third-party suppliers. Initially, you will be a leader responsible for import operations, acting as a central point of contact between overseas shipping points, suppliers, customs brokers, forwarders, warehouses, and internal departments. We expect you to grow into the Import Manager role, overseeing import operations, managing KPIs, driving business improvements, standardization, and team development.
Responsibilities
- Manage import operations for raw materials and products (including overseas products) from Sika Intercompany and 3rd Party suppliers.
- Liaise with overseas shipping points and suppliers to coordinate orders, shipment quantities, delivery dates, and shipping schedules.
- Coordinate with customs brokers and forwarders to manage the entire import process, including customs clearance, international transportation, arrival, and domestic delivery.
- Respond to inquiries from customs regarding imported products and handle post-customs audit procedures.
- Collaborate with internal departments such as Purchasing, Supply Chain, Production, Quality, Sales, and Warehousing to ensure timely delivery and stable supply.
- Work with relevant parties to promptly resolve issues such as import delays, quantity discrepancies, damages, shipping errors, and quality problems.
- Manage import performance, inventory status, and delivery dates, and share necessary information with stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Engage in improvement activities to enhance the efficiency, standardization, and service level of import operations.
- Aim to become a leader capable of managing progress and priorities of assigned tasks and supporting team members in the future.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of practical experience in import operations, including experience coordinating with overseas suppliers, customs brokers, customs authorities, and forwarders.
- Experience in international trade and import operations with overseas group companies and/or 3rd party suppliers.
- Ability to conduct business communications via email and Teams in English with overseas locations and suppliers.
- Experience coordinating import operations with customs brokers, customs authorities, and forwarders.
- Basic practical experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, particularly data management and aggregation using Excel.
- Knowledge of Incoterms, HS codes, customs duties, country of origin, import customs clearance, and international transportation.
