About the Role
Sydney Health & Care Services (SHCS) is seeking reliable Community Support Workers to assist participants with mental health challenges, including complex behaviours, dementia, and dual diagnosis.
Responsibilities
- Experience supporting people with complex needs, ABI, dementia, and/or mental health
- Supervision and prompting of medication administration
- Strong emotional regulation and calm communication style
- Use validation, reassurance, and redirection during distress
- Respect choice and control, including refusal of support
- Follow Behaviour Support Plans and safety protocols
- Personal care and manual handling when necessary
- Assistance with hygiene, cleaning, and bedding
- Maintain accurate, objective documentation
Requirements
- A reliable car with comprehensive insurance (mandatory)
- Full unrestricted Australian driver's licence
- Willingness to travel across Sydney
- Proven reliability, professionalism, and excellent communication
- Minimum 6 months experience in mental health, disability support, or community services (or Certificate IV in Mental Health)
- Calm under pressure; strong judgment and boundaries
- Smartphone literacy for rostering and documentation
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willing to obtain)
- Working With Children Check (NSW) (or willing to obtain)
- First Aid & CPR (or willing to obtain)
- Police Check (or willing to obtain)
- Unrestricted work rights in Australia
