About the Role
Own the frontend of Sauna, shipping interfaces that are instant, intuitive, and polished, even when the underlying work is complex. You will make product and design calls, prototype quickly, and execute without waiting for perfect specifications.
Responsibilities

- Implement designs provided by others.
- Create designs when needed.
- Own a full-stack feature, including database migrations, backend routes, frontend fetching, and UI creation.
- Make design decisions and own UX decisions.
- Create simple designs when needed.
- Unblock yourself when facing challenges.
- Ship, gather feedback, and iterate.
- Focus on craft, including loading states, empty states, error messages, and keyboard shortcuts.
Requirements
- Minimum 4+ years of frontend engineering experience.
- Portfolio showcasing complex web apps, including multiplayer experiences, apps handling large data with sophisticated fetching and caching, or work with server-sent events (SSE).
- Deep understanding of React, including state management, useMemo, callbacks, component lifecycle, and writing reusable components.
- Ability to identify and refactor prop drilling using context or Zustand.
- Comfortable owning a full-stack feature.
- Strong product sense and design intuition.
- Care about performance, including caching, refetching stale data, optimistic UI updates, and identifying duplicated network requests.
- High autonomy and low ego.
- Attention to detail in UI/UX craft.
