About the Role

The Business Center Practice Leader (BCPL) is a "seller/doer" responsible for leading pursuits and driving the growth of Business Centers and Stantec’s market position, reporting to the Regional Growth Leader.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve Business Center sales goals
  • Develop and execute market growth strategies
  • Maintain a deep understanding of market opportunities and trends
  • Win new projects with key clients
  • Develop and manage strategic client relationships
  • Assess and pursue new markets and clients
  • Build Stantec’s external visibility and industry presence
  • Exceed client expectations through strong account management
  • Lead accounts for major clients within the Business Center
  • Achieve client- and proposal-specific marketing and business development (M&BD) sales goals
  • Conduct a minimum of 4 client feedback surveys annually and address issues
  • Lead and participate in pursuits and campaigns for major BC opportunities
  • Manage net revenue forecasts by period, quarter, and year-end
  • Contribute to winning strategies and provide hands-on involvement in key pursuits
  • Lead business development, key pursuits, and sales strategy for the BC
  • Develop and manage the M&BD plan for the BC, including cross-selling
  • Increase Stantec’s visibility by sharing knowledge and innovation stories
  • Establish an effective Go/No Go Review process and track compliance
  • Collaborate with other BCPLs and leaders on pursuits across geographies and business lines
  • Ensure the opportunity Pipeline is maintained and monitored
  • Optimize business development plans and employee utilization rates
  • Develop and maintain Stantec’s Integrated Practice in the BC
  • Oversee project delivery, QAQC, discipline excellence, and technical quality
  • Assign responsibility for design excellence to foster innovation, sustainability, and technology use
  • Ensure compliance with ISO-certified Integrated Management System and Project Management Frameworks
  • Achieve >95% PM Frameworks compliance from Internal Practice audits
  • Assign responsibility for the management, needs assessment, and provision of digital practice tools
  • Support the annual budget for the BC, outlining vision, focus, and priorities
  • Support meeting established targets for net revenue, gross margin, SG&A, and operating income
  • Develop and implement improvement plans for distressed business units and BCs
  • Support achieving utilization rate and backlog targets
  • Support the health and safety performance of the business center
  • Support developing, attracting, engaging, and retaining top talent
  • Conduct quarterly office visits and BC Wide meetings to communicate vision and strategy
  • Direct reports may include roles focused on M&BD

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • A minimum of 10 years’ related work, leadership, business development, and consulting experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Professional registration in a related field
  • Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods
  • Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather
