About the Role
Crusoe's Finance team seeks a Senior Manager to oversee company-wide headcount and operating expense (OpEx) finance. This role is responsible for planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting on personnel and operational spending, ensuring alignment with leadership and business objectives. You will partner with People, Recruiting, and department leaders on headcount planning, manage the OpEx budget process, and ensure accurate monthly reporting.
Responsibilities
- Own the headcount plan and forecast across the company, partnering with People and department leaders to track open requisitions, hiring pace, and attrition against plan.
- Lead the annual budgeting and in-year OpEx forecasting process across departments, working with budget owners to build defensible, well-documented plans.
- Own monthly and quarterly actuals reporting for headcount and OpEx, identifying variances to plan and partnering with budget owners on root cause and corrective action.
- Maintain rolling headcount and OpEx forecasts, updating for approved changes, hiring plan shifts, and in-year business decisions.
- Serve as the go-to finance contact for department leaders on headcount and OpEx questions, helping them understand their budgets and make informed trade-offs.
- Partner with HR on new or changing benefit ideas to improve employee experience.
- Partner with Marketing and other leaders on OPEX budgets/plans and associated ROI.
- Improve the tools and processes used to plan, track, and report on headcount and OpEx, reducing manual reconciliation and increasing self-serve visibility for stakeholders.
- Prepare clear, accurate headcount and OpEx reporting packages for executive leadership and the board.
Requirements
- 6+ years of progressive finance experience, including meaningful ownership of headcount and/or OpEx planning and reporting.
- Strong financial modeling skills, with advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and experience with planning tools (e.g., Anaplan, Adaptive, Workday, or similar).
- Demonstrated ability to partner with People/Recruiting teams and translate hiring plans into financial impact.
- Track record of owning a budgeting and actuals reporting process end-to-end, including variance analysis and stakeholder communication.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership over data accuracy.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain budget and variance drivers clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- MBA is a plus.
