About the Role
The Business Impact Manager (BIM) drives the operations strategy for Oliver Wyman’s industry and capability practices, organizing team meetings, maintaining MIS, supporting go-to-market offerings, and assisting with special projects. This role is crucial for the annual strategy and budget-setting process and ensuring progress against it, requiring collaboration across various functions and with other BIMs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of strategic plans and operational enhancements.
- Execute special projects aligned to the Practice’s top strategic priorities.
- Develop and drive agendas for key practice and leadership team meetings.
- Draft Practice-related internal communications and management presentations.
- Develop business cases for investments.
- Lead the planning, budgeting, and execution phases of large-scale team events.
- Coordinate with other geographies on global projects and strategic priorities.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor MIS, identifying matters requiring attention.
- Lead the analysis for the annual budgeting and capacity planning process.
- Ensure proper management and tracking of both hard- and soft-dollar investments.
- Serve as point person for client-facing teams seeking project investments.
- Help set experienced hire recruiting goals and interview senior candidates.
- Oversee integration efforts for new joiners.
- Produce ad hoc analyses related to employee retention and attrition.
- Manage and support ad hoc human capital related projects.
- Coordinate the Partner annual performance review and objective setting processes.
- Produce analysis and implement routines relating to the firm’s commercial effectiveness efforts.
- Support client and client team requests and RFPs.
- Support the Practice’s marketing efforts, including shaping the editorial calendar and coordinating event logistics.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in professional services, ideally in an internal or management consulting role.
- Strong storytelling & communication skills (both written & verbal).
- Excellent PowerPoint skills and the ability to craft compelling business presentations for executive audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of generative AI and work-optimization tools.
- Strong proficiency with MSFT Excel.
- Ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Ability to influence and interact with colleagues at all levels, including executive audiences.
- Ability to identify business opportunities and issues from varying perspectives.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, work independently as needed, and meet tight business deadlines.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience dealing with confidential and business critical issues.
- Willingness to respond to ad-hoc requests and projects.
- Comfortable in dealing with ambiguity or acting with limited direction or oversight on a regular basis.
