About the Role

This role is responsible for renewing, retaining, and growing business volumes within an assigned territory or product line. You will increase the value of the current customer portfolio through upselling and cross-selling, attract new customers, and build strong, long-term relationships. The position requires a deep understanding of the market, customer needs, and industry trends to develop and present compelling proposals, negotiate contracts, and ensure a healthy sales pipeline for sustainable growth.

Responsibilities

  • Renew, retain, and grow volumes from all segments of business in the assigned territory/product line.
  • Increase the value of current customer portfolio via upselling and cross-selling and attract new customers.
  • Arrange business interactions with current and prospective clients to promote company services.
  • Understand customer needs and requirements, and develop account plans.
  • Conduct research to identify new markets and customer needs.
  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the market, customers, and industry.
  • Identify and analyze customer preferences to direct sales efforts.
  • Build and present compelling proposals addressing customer and prospect needs.
  • Negotiate and close contracts.
  • Record sales activity in company systems.
  • Operate within MSC regional budgetary guidelines.
  • Input and maintain data in CRM and other systems.
  • Ensure a healthy sales pipeline for long-term sustainable growth.
  • Build accurate sales forecasts and reports.
  • Adjust sales activities based on pipeline status, sales target, and market indicators.
  • Build and strengthen long-term relationships with existing and new customers.
  • Position the company as a preferred transport partner.
  • Align sales efforts with commercial strategy through collaboration with Trade, Marketing, and Customer Service.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of selling transportation services (preferably ocean transportation).
  • Strong knowledge of the local market and industry trends.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and financial jargon of international trade.
  • Knowledge of CRM software.
  • Valid driver's license and favorable driving record.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
