About the Role
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Oneida/Huntsville seeks a part-time Practical Nursing Adjunct Instructor to share expertise and guide future practical nurses. The role involves providing quality instruction and fostering a supportive learning environment in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.
Responsibilities
- Teach and supervise nursing students in classroom and clinical settings.
- Evaluate and advise students.
- Maintain and complete required reports.
- Participate in the development of the program.
- Follow current, approved course syllabi and deliver instruction aligned with program competencies.
- Support positive, professional relationships with assigned clinical sites and meet their requirements for student supervision.
- Assist with student recruitment and promotion of the program within the community as requested.
- Communicate professionally, tactfully, and courteously with students, colleagues, clinical partners, and the general public.
- Conduct all activities in accordance with FERPA, applicable laws, TBR policies, and COE accreditation standards.
- Remain current in the healthcare field and in instructional methods, and attend required in-service and professional development activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or administration.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school with an active license in Tennessee as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing required.
- Three (3) years’ clinical nursing experience in a hospital and/or long-term care facility.
- Current CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association).
- Ability to meet all clinical site requirements.
Skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication and computer skills.
- Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Sound clinical judgment and the ability to model safe, evidence-based nursing practice for students.
- Ability to teach and support adult learners with diverse backgrounds, experience levels, and learning needs.
- Familiarity with learning management systems, simulation, and other instructional technology, or willingness to learn.
Location
- TCAT Oneida - Oneida Campus
- Travel to clinical sites and other TCAT Oneida/Huntsville campuses may be required.
