About the Role
The Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) Purchasing Manager leads all procurement activities for capital investment projects across North America, developing and executing strategic sourcing for equipment, services, and other expenditures to support organizational growth. This role collaborates with various internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, focusing on cost savings, risk mitigation, and supplier performance.
Responsibilities
- Develops local/regional sourcing strategies based on spend data analysis and supplier research.
- Achieves budget objectives by supporting North American sourcing strategy initiatives.
- Leads the implementation and management of category strategies, considering Business Unit needs.
- Owns the bid process, including vendor qualification, tendering, negotiation, and contract management.
- Supports global negotiation initiatives by providing local market information and expertise.
- Leads cross-functional teams in the design and implementation of sourcing strategies.
- Identifies and executes negotiation cost savings initiatives.
- Acts as a subject matter expert for cross-functional teams, providing insights for effective project execution.
- Develops supplier relationships to optimize quality, performance, and reduce total cost of ownership.
- Performs administrative duties, including tracking cost savings, reporting, and validating pricing.
- Provides market insights and risk/opportunity forecasts.
- Participates as an active member of the Strategic Sourcing team.
- Travel may be required up to 25% monthly.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related discipline.
- Five to ten years of experience in a Procurement function, preferably in the food industry.
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing CAPEX, capital equipment, construction, or engineering-related procurement projects.
- Manufacturing or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) experience preferred.
- Experience supporting large-scale capital investment projects preferred.
- Industrial and/or Supply Chain Purchasing experience preferred.
- Strong initiative and interpersonal skills.
- Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
- Ability to positively influence others.
- Ease of presenting in front of small to medium-sized groups and leadership.
- Consultative and customer-centric approach.
- Highly focused and proactive.
- Strong planning, project management, and execution skills.
- Rigorous data-driven/analytical capability with ability to present data to leadership.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including advanced MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Ability to adapt in a changing work environment.
- Bilingual (French/English) is an asset.
