About the Role
The Apprentice is responsible for performing vehicle repair and maintenance work as assigned in accordance with dealer and factory standards, working under the guidance of an assigned Technician.
Responsibilities
- Receive repair orders and perform work efficiently and accurately according to dealership and factory standards.
- Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
- Examine vehicles to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
- Save and tag parts for warranty or customer requests.
- Advise Service Advisor immediately of any changes or issues with repairs.
- Inform dispatcher when jobs are started, finished, or interrupted, paying attention to rush or waiting customers.
- Maintain documentation of work performed.
- Road-test vehicles to quality-check work and report discrepancies.
- Attend factory-sponsored training classes and stay updated on technical bulletins.
- Ensure customer cars are kept clean.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and safe shop area.
- Comply with regulations regarding hazardous waste disposal.
- Follow company safety policies and report all accidents.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of automotive equipment.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Highly self-motivated and organized.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.
- Commitment to consistently delivering high-quality work.
- Ability to make sound decisions.
- A valid Ontario driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.
- Availability to work Saturdays.
