About the Role

Brookdale is seeking a leader to manage the day-to-day operations of a large community, focusing on associate relations, resident engagement, financial performance, and regulatory compliance. This role is crucial in developing the team, growing revenue, and ensuring a preferred senior living community in the market.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of a community of 60-65 units and two product lines or 65-175 units with up to two product lines.
  • Oversee associate relations, resident and resident family engagement, financial performance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Create and execute the business plan to develop the team and establish the community as a preferred senior living provider.
  • Partner with the district team to grow revenue and profitability.
  • Collaborate with sales to drive sales results.
  • Foster an inclusive community culture that ensures high-quality resident experiences and care.
  • Manage all operations within the community, interacting with staff, residents, prospects, and their families.
  • Develop and implement business plans and annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Manage community performance against goals and implement plans for improvement.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with the management team, encouraging teamwork and collaboration.
  • Empower department leaders to supervise, direct, and motivate staff, and to proactively solve issues.
  • Hold department leaders accountable for their performance and provide assistance as needed.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet resident needs and comply with legal requirements.
  • Support department leaders in attracting, developing, engaging, and retaining associates.
  • Oversee recruiting, hiring, training, and development of associates.
  • Review promotions, development plans, disciplinary actions, and termination decisions for consistency.
  • Analyze trends and implement strategies to reduce turnover and increase retention.
  • Build high resident satisfaction and retention by maintaining positive resident relations.
  • Be accessible and approachable to residents and their families, proactively solving problems.
  • Leverage satisfied residents and families to grow community occupancy and execute renewal programs.
  • Partner with Resident Council as necessary.
  • Administer resident satisfaction surveys and develop improvement plans with department leaders.
  • Ensure collaborative relationships with clinical leaders for assisted living or memory care communities.
  • Oversee resident services, including admissions, healthcare management, and documentation.
  • Ensure service plan reviews are conducted with appropriate team members and resident families.
  • Demonstrate financial acumen related to community operations.
  • Analyze, develop, and execute annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Meet or exceed budgeted revenue, profitability, and occupancy goals.
  • Create plans to overcome unanticipated expenses or revenue shortfalls.
  • Explore revenue enhancement and expense reduction opportunities.
  • Drive sales and marketing efforts in collaboration with the community sales leader.
  • Meet or exceed occupancy or revenue targets by developing new business and generating leads.
  • Engage with prospects touring the community.
  • Identify trends and implement approved sales and marketing strategies to maximize revenue.
  • Build positive relationships with local influencers and professionals to raise community profile.
  • Participate in local social and civic affairs aligned with the Company’s mission.
  • Represent the community and Company to governmental agencies, professional organizations, and community groups.
  • Ensure buildings, grounds, and property meet Company standards through oversight of maintenance programs and inspections.
  • Enforce current Company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain applicable licenses in accordance with Company, Federal, State, and local requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum of three years related in operational leadership experience required.
  • Additional years of experience can be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Must have a valid administrator license in states where required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a private vehicle for business use.
  • Uses strong analytic skills and an in-depth understanding of the organization and the business.
  • Demonstrates leadership ability to be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of resident care, marketing, food service, housekeeping, and maintenance units.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities, including managing department leaders, in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Has an advanced knowledge of the organization, industry, and a functional discipline.
  • Extensive understanding of technical areas gained through experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft software preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks is essential.
  • Ability to delegate assignments to the appropriate individuals based on their skills, roles, and interests.
  • Success in driving results.
  • Successfully demonstrates good judgment, strong problem solving, and decision making skills.
  • Requires interaction with co-workers, residents or vendors.
  • Occasional weekend, evening or night work if needed to ensure shift coverage.
  • On-Call on an as needed basis.
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases and infections.
  • Potential injury from transferring, repositioning, or lifting residents.
  • Exposure to latex.
  • Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
  • Possible exposure to various drugs, chemical, infectious, or biological hazards.
  • Requires Travel: Occasionally.
  • Requires Driving: Drives self (Tier 2).

Salary/Compensations

  • Base pay in range will be determined by applicant’s skills and experience.
  • Full-time associates in role are eligible for an annual bonus incentive and sales referral bonuses.
