About the Role
AECOM is seeking motivated Environmental Science Interns to support the EPP team in both field and office settings. This role offers the opportunity to develop and advance in a full-time environmental career, gaining valuable hands-on experience in engineering design and infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Support the AECOM ecological team in becoming familiar with field survey equipment, data forms, and other data collection and reporting tools.
- Assist AECOM ecological teams in performing stream, wetland, and wildlife habitat assessments, and other ecological field surveys.
- Assist AECOM ecological teams with writing and developing field data sheets and reports.
- Assist with coordination of various governmental agencies regarding ecological survey protocols, reporting standards, or endangered and threatened species coordination.
- Create field maps and report mapping through Geographic Information System (GIS) programs, specifically ESRI software.
- Review desktop information to complete environmental impact assessments.
Requirements
- Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Environmental Studies, GIS, or a related field, with at least two years of study completed.
- Candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree and plan to pursue a master’s degree are eligible.
- Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are preferred.
- Strong data analysis and document preparation experience in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Acrobat is preferred.
- Relocation assistance is not available.
- Sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization is not available now or in the future.
- The selected candidate must be available to work in the New York or New Jersey office on a scheduled basis.
- All newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.
