About the Role
AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Geologist to join our Remediation team in our Latham, NY office. This field-based role involves approximately 80% fieldwork and 20% office work, focusing on environmental assessment and remediation projects. The candidate will communicate effectively with project teams, clients, and management, working both independently and collaboratively.
Responsibilities
- Performing routine fieldwork, including soil, sediment, surface water, and/or groundwater sampling.
- Operating and maintaining remedial systems.
- Conducting drilling and remedial construction oversight, including subcontractor management.
- Participating in site visits and coordinating/assisting field staff.
- Performing work within agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision.
- Developing knowledge of job-specific federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and assigned job specifications.
- Collecting and analyzing data under the supervision of an experienced scientist/engineer.
- Preparing progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Attending meetings and reporting on project tasks.
Requirements
- BA/BS in Geology or related field.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
Skills
- Proficiency in GIS and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) software.
- Experience using Esri products (ArcGIS REST API, ArcGIS API for JavaScript, Portal for ArcGIS, Survey123, and Field Maps).
- CAD experience and ability to work with CAD to understand BIM/GIS interfaces.
- Database knowledge (ArcGIS for Server, EQuIS, MS Access, and/or SQL Server).
- Experience in the use of ModelBuilder, ArcPy, and geoprocessing tools.
- Developing scripts in Visual Basic, Python, and/or JavaScript to automate tasks.
- Experience and/or coursework related to environmental remediation.
- Experience with data visualization tools.
- Experience with field and/or construction documentation.
