About the Role
AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Traffic Engineer to be based in New York, New York. This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2027. This role involves performing analytical tasks, traffic and capacity analysis, and preparing documentation and reports for transportation projects under the supervision of experienced engineers.
Responsibilities
- Perform analytical tasks including traffic data collection and data manipulation.
- Perform traffic and capacity analysis on roadway networks.
- Perform traffic analysis on roadway networks using transportation planning/engineering software (HCS, Synchro, simulation, etc.).
- Prepare written documentation of NEPA/SEQRA/CEQRA Transportation results in support of client projects.
- Prepare written reports and presentations of project findings that support moving projects from concept/preliminary alternatives into design, or document operational enhancements.
- Builds analytic and design skills.
- Conducts planning analysis and engineering conceptual design under the supervision of an experienced traffic engineer.
- Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering preferred.
- FE Certification desired.
- Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
- Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
- The selected candidate must be available to work in New York, NY on a scheduled basis.
- All newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.
