About the Role
Sunday Natural is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to define and drive key infrastructure projects, including bringing the entire infrastructure under Terraform and strengthening cloud environments' scalability, security, and compliance. This role offers significant ownership and direct access to leadership.
Responsibilities
- Shape the infrastructure vision, defining how the company runs, deploys, monitors, and scales.
- Act as the in-house technical counterpart to external partners, building architecture and standards.
- Own and optimize the company's AWS spend.
- Serve as the escalation point for production-related risks.
- Manage AWS infrastructure including EC2, RDS, Fargate, CloudFront, S3, IAM, Cloudflare, DNS, and WAF.
- Oversee security and compliance, including DevSecOps practices, system audits, patching, access reviews, and GDPR-compliant data handling.
- Transition infrastructure management to a fully Terraform-defined state.
- Manage the data layer, including MySQL tuning, replication, and backups.
- Optimize cloud economics and AWS budget.
- Manage the delivery pipeline for developers using Bitbucket Pipelines.
- Ensure reliability for 7M MAU through monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident response.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience running production infrastructure.
- Deep hands-on AWS experience.
- Security-conscious infrastructure operations, including DevSecOps practices, system audits, and access reviews.
- Experience with GDPR-relevant data handling.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code at scale, using Terraform.
- Deep Linux (Debian/Ubuntu) knowledge.
- Experience with MySQL under real load, including slow-query analysis, replication, indexing, and recovery testing.
- Experience defining standards for other engineers.
- Experience holding the line on standards with internal teams or external partners.
