Responsibilities
- Manage and develop a portfolio of society contracts to enhance OUP’s standing.
- Renew society contracts by leading pre-emptive renewals and RFP responses.
- Develop business plans for approval and write detailed proposals for society-owned journals.
- Lead or contribute to RFP responses for new potential society business in content growth areas.
- Negotiate contractual terms with society partners that align with OUP strategic priorities.
- Ensure adherence to contractual terms for all journals in the portfolio.
- Present and launch new open access journals with society partners after research and financial modeling.
- Work collaboratively with other functional groups to deliver excellent service for society partners.
- Collaborate with Editors and journal owners to publish high-quality content.
- Work with finance and operations colleagues to ensure journal list sustainability and manage costs.
- Lead the transition process for newly acquired titles.
- Create and present Editorial Development plans to societies and editorial boards.
- Provide data to inform editorial decision making.
- Roll out OUP journal policies across the portfolio.
- Assist with implementation of projects that scale across the journals programme.
Requirements
- Publishing or transferable professional experience.
- Understanding of academic journals publishing and industry trends.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Ability to influence, persuade, and negotiate with internal and external parties.
- Analytical and forecasting ability to review trends and align development.
- Entrepreneurial skills.
