About the Role

The ASPIRE Program is seeking an Early Childhood Education Instructor responsible for managing an early childhood education classroom, curriculum development, lesson planning, administering developmental assessments, and providing age-appropriate infant, toddler, or pre-school education in a safe and nurturing environment. This position offers a school-type schedule with evenings and weekends off, up to 9 weeks paid time off per year, fully paid medical and dental insurance, and the opportunity to support children and families.

Responsibilities

• Manage an early childhood education classroom.
• Develop curriculum.
• Plan lessons.
• Administer developmental assessments.
• Provide age-appropriate infant, toddler, or pre-school education in a safe and nurturing environment.
• Utilize knowledge of infant brain development as well as best practices for infant care to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating infant classroom.
• Teach early childhood education classes.
• Plan and conduct monthly effective lesson plans.
• Develop schedules and routines to ensure children have enough physical activity, child-directed play, learning centers, and rest to support their growth and learning.
• Observe children to detect signs of illness, injury, abuse, neglect, emotional disturbance, or other special needs, and report these signs immediately to the Program Director.
• Ensure the safety of children through supervision.
• Maintain accurate and complete records, including but not limited to attendance, behavior, assessment data, developmental observations, progress reports, parent communication, and connection with resources.
• Ensure daily communication happens with families exhibiting cultural awareness.
• Hold parent-teacher conferences with families.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality on private and personal matters that are unique to children and their families.
• Follow and comply with the program standards, best practices, and safety regulations with the family's well-being at the center.
• Complete Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, Shaken Infant Death Syndrome, and Infant Brain Development training upon hire.
• Collaborate with the ASPIRE staff in a team approach to a two-generation service delivery.
• Promote and maintain agency culture, standards, and systems.
• Perform other activities and duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• May oversee volunteers or teaching assistants.

Requirements

• A cover letter is required to be considered for this position.
• High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of experience working with young children and their families.
• Demonstrated ability to work and maintain high standards of professional ethics with persons of different racial, ethnic, economic and social backgrounds.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must be able to walk, stand, sit, kneel, speak, hear, see, read, reach with arms and hands, and lift, carry, or move children and materials weighing at least 25 pounds (with or without reasonable accommodation).
