About the Role
Install, maintain, and repair refrigeration units for commercial trucks, trailers, and large equipment, working on a variety of heavy-duty refrigeration systems to ensure the performance and reliability of temperature-sensitive goods transport. Cross-training opportunities are available for Detroit Diesel, Allison Transmission, and Fleet repair.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, and repair refrigeration units, and all systems/components related to heavy duty tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units.
- Install, maintain, and repair heavy-duty refrigeration units on trucks, trailers, and industrial equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot refrigeration system issues, including electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration cycles.
- Perform preventative maintenance and system inspections to ensure proper functioning.
- Recharge refrigerant systems and replace or repair parts, including compressors, condensers, and evaporators.
- Perform pre-start up checks on equipment and communicate necessary repairs.
- Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, dealing with various temperatures and conditions.
- Rebuild components on equipment.
- Complete all Repair Orders in a timely manner ensuring all labor and parts are charged to the appropriate unit.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in heavy-duty refrigeration repair or maintenance (preferably with commercial trucks, trailers, or industrial units).
- In-depth knowledge of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and mechanical components.
- EPA Section 608 Certification (required for handling refrigerants).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
