About the Role
Austin Community College is seeking a full-time Instructor of Voice to provide leadership in teaching Music courses, including Applied Voice lessons, Diction, and Voice Class. This role involves curriculum development, student mentoring, and active participation in departmental governance. The position is a 10.5-month contract starting in January 2027.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and teach courses in the field of Voice based on approved course learning outcomes.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to community college students and discipline standards.
- Participate actively in departmental responsibilities and governance, including curriculum review, program review, and assessment.
- Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback.
- Serve as a mentor to students in the Music program.
- Provide teaching and mentoring services without discrimination.
- Remain current in the field through professional development activities.
- Support division and department goals through engagement in decision-making and planning.
- Serve on college-wide and departmental committees, councils, work groups, and task forces.
- Teach Applied voice lessons, Italian, German, French Diction and IPA, Voice Class.
- Demonstrate proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and technologies for the classroom.
- Demonstrate proficiency using an online learning management system (e.g., Blackboard) for course content development and administrative duties.
- Comply with college policies and procedures.
- Meet deadlines for attendance certification and submission of final course grades.
- Participate in graduation, general assembly, and other official college functions.
- Maintain regular office hours to assist students.
- Attend and participate in college-wide, campus, department, or other activities and meetings.
- Recognize and reflect standards of civility and collegiality.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Music or Music Education; or Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Music.
- Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and other technologies for the classroom.
- Demonstrated proficiency using an online learning management system such as Blackboard.
- Employees are required to maintain a domicile in the State of Texas while working for the college and throughout the duration of employment.
- Employees are required to report violations under Title IX and, under the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act), select individuals are required to report crimes.
