About the Role

UCCAC, Inc. is seeking a Head Start Teacher in Kingston, NY to provide a safe and healthy preschool learning environment. This role involves developing lesson plans, identifying children's needs, implementing curriculum, and fostering development. Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and healthy preschool learning environment that is welcoming to children and their parents.
• Conduct classroom planning sessions to develop individual and weekly lesson plans.
• Submit lesson plans for review in accordance with established procedures.
• Identify the strengths, needs, and interests of each child to develop individual educational plans in cooperation with the child's guardian and the center team.
• Provide an educational environment and implement a curriculum that encourages the development of self-awareness, autonomy, and self-expression.
• Participate with the children at mealtimes and use it as a teaching opportunity to model appropriate social manners.
• Plan for transitions so that they occur in a predictable and unrushed manner that helps the children feel safe.
• Attend parent meetings as needed to familiarize parents with Head Start and its operations.

Requirements

• 1 year or more of experience working with young children in a preschool setting.
• Valid NY driver's license and reliable personal transportation.
• Current CPR and first aid certification or the willingness to complete training at the first opportunity.
• Ability to lift and carry a 50-pound child.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Patience and friendliness.
• Excellent classroom management skills.
• Ability to work well with staff and parents as part of a team.
