About the Role

We are looking for a Strategic Communications Manager to join our small team in London. Your primary responsibility will be to insert TBI into critical public policy debates where we have a unique perspective and the current discourse is inadequate. We offer practical solutions to global problems and require politically savvy communicators who understand our audience and relevant media.

Responsibilities

Develop media strategies for policy output as part of a wider influencing strategy.
Create and lead communications, press, and media strategy for policy work to maximize influence.
Maintain strong relationships with media stakeholders to maximize exposure opportunities.
Relentlessly pursue media coverage for policy work, engagements, and events.
Develop strategies to surface key headlines/messages and focus authors on wider audience resonance.
Collaborate with social media, email marketing, and content creation teams for multi-channel strategies.
Use analytics and reporting tools to monitor and evaluate communication effectiveness.
Act as a key media advisor to TBI policy directors.

Requirements

Significant experience at the nexus of policy, politics, and communications.
Innate understanding of the political environment.
Strong media handling experience, preferably at the UK national political level.
Direct experience dealing with national press and broadcast media to secure positive coverage.
Keen understanding of policy honed through experience in decision-making and communications.
Good 'nose' for stories, the political environment, and social media trends.
Keen interest in policy content and willingness to contribute to thinking.
Excellent communication skills, able to clearly and persuasively explain complex analysis and policy proposals.
Experience working with senior stakeholders, with confidence to influence upwards and challenge thinking.
Ability to maintain or develop strong links to key journalists and opinion formers.
Current Right to Work in the UK is essential.
