About the Role
DePaul is seeking a full-time Occupational Therapist to evaluate, create treatment plans, and oversee client progress towards independent living. The role involves individual treatments, therapeutic group facilitation, and collaboration with families and mental health professionals for an integrated care approach.
Responsibilities
- Perform occupational therapy (OT) evaluations and screenings for potential or current residents at a DePaul residential program.
- Develop a holistic, client-centered treatment plan to facilitate skill building that allows the client to be as independent and empowered as possible.
- Use evidence-based interventions with assigned clients to assist them in achieving their goals.
- Assemble and lead therapeutic groups that promote skill building, community integration, social participation and occupational wellness.
- Evaluate and adapt the client’s environments to promote their optimal level of functioning.
- Provide consultation and in-service trainings for DePaul staff.
- Complete all necessary documentation as set by the program’s policies and procedures.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or agency.
Requirements
- Master’s degree from an accredited occupational therapy program.
- Certified by the National Board for Occupational Therapy.
- Licensed as an occupational therapist in the state of New York.
- At least one year of experience in a mental health setting is preferred.
- Entry-level knowledge of occupational therapy practice in mental health is acceptable.
- A clean NYS driving record as outlined in DePaul’s personnel policy.
