About the Role
Beach Security is responsible for providing security in and around the fill area to keep unauthorized persons from dredging operations. This is a temporary, project-based position near Gilgo Beach, NY, with typical Monday-Sunday 12-hour shifts (day or night). Flexibility is required as shifts may vary.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a sentry post at the entrance to the construction area to keep unauthorized persons from entering the active construction zone.
- Perform escort duties for bulldozer or wheel loader when equipment is being operated outside the designated construction area and members of the public are present.
- Perform pipe security check by walking or driving the shorepipe to identify any security or safety concerns as they relate to the general public.
- Spend 2-3 days watching safety training videos prudent to job duties.
- May be assigned to other duties.
Requirements
- Must be capable and possess the ability to walk on uneven surfaces (e.g., beach sand).
- Must be capable of performing escort duties for the bulldozer or wheel loader when equipment is being operated outside the designated construction area and members of the public are present.
- Must have good communications skills; both verbal & written.
- Must have solid interpersonal skills to interact with the public.
- Candidates will need their own steel toed boots.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Valid State driver’s license.
