About the Role
AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Structural Engineer to join our team in New York, NY. This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2027. We tackle complex challenges and pioneer innovative solutions in transportation, buildings, water, governments, energy, and the environment.
Responsibilities
- Undertake design and planning activities on maritime projects including container terminals, mining/bulk, oil/gas, marinas, ports and harbors, coastal resiliency, and development schemes.
- Undertake design and planning activities on vertical building structural projects such as aviation facilities, transit stations, freight rail facilities, and ancillary buildings related to roadway projects.
- Prepare structural designs using hand calculations, Excel workbooks, and advanced structural analysis software to determine applied loading, demand requirements, and appropriate foundation and member specifications.
- Prepare structural technical sketches, drawings, specifications, and reports under the supervision of senior staff.
- Exercise judgment in developing details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
- Coordinate with other in-house engineering disciplines.
- Perform condition assessments and site visits as needed, with occasional short to medium term site visits required depending on project needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
- Master of Science with a Structural Engineering concentration.
- Experience with computer analysis and design software such as SAP 2000, STAAD.Pro, and SAFE.
- Experience with Revit and AutoCAD.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Relocation assistance is not available.
- Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future.
- Must be available to work in New York, NY on a scheduled basis.
- All newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.
