About the Role
Peec AI is building the data plane for AI visibility, handling millions of chats, scrapes, citations, sources, model responses, and customer-facing insights through a fast-moving backend. This role involves owning the systems behind this infrastructure, focusing on making scraping, chat-processing, source-ingestion, and analytics more reliable, cheaper, faster, and easier to understand. The ideal candidate can debug outages, design queueing models, implement services, and document solutions clearly. We are particularly interested in individuals with experience in systems facing constraints like rate limits, flaky APIs, queues, webhooks, retries, distributed locks, data migrations, observability gaps, customer pressure, and cost ceilings.
Responsibilities
- Own the systems behind AI visibility infrastructure.
- Make scraping, chat-processing, source-ingestion, and analytics infrastructure more reliable, cheaper, and faster.
- Make infrastructure easier for the team to reason about.
- Debug provider outages.
- Design better queueing models.
- Ship TypeScript service changes.
- Write postmortems or follow-up tickets clearly.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend, platform, infrastructure, or distributed systems engineering experience in a production environment.
- Deep hands-on TypeScript experience.
- Ability to design clean, reliable backend systems.
- Strong understanding of queues, workers, retries, rate limits, idempotency, distributed locks, webhooks, and failure handling.
- Experience operating systems under real production pressure (incidents, outages, escalations, noisy alerts, slow dependencies, incomplete data).
- Comfort with cloud-native infrastructure.
- Ability to debug across layers (application code, logs, metrics, queues, provider APIs, databases, network behavior, deployment state).
- Product-minded judgment, understanding customer, security, and cost implications of infrastructure changes.
- High ownership and low ego.
- Bias toward durable fixes, addressing root causes beyond simple restarts.
