About the Role
Hidden Level is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to accelerate product development initiatives using cutting-edge RF sensing technology for airspace awareness.
Responsibilities
- Derive and document Mechanical system requirements in collaboration with multiple technical disciplines.
- Design mechanical solutions for enclosures and fixtures using 3D solid modeling.
- Perform structural, thermal, and other failure analyses to meet environmental and structural requirements.
- Optimize designs for feasibility, manufacturability, cost, thermal performance, strength-weight efficiency, and ease of assembly.
- Create and maintain cable assemblies/harnesses and other peripheral interface designs.
- Solve design challenges using various materials and fabrication methods.
- Define, maintain, and communicate requirements to 3rd-party fabrication houses and manage component and product delivery.
- Perform design verification and integration of new components and support in-field testing.
- Author assembly instructions and drawings for in-house production.
- Aid with the management of bills of material (BOM) and other production and fabrication artifacts.
- Review hardware parts for obsolescence and identify suitable replacements.
- Develop and provide information for project planning, execution, and oversight.
Requirements
- A desire to own project assignments and work creatively and collaboratively on cross-disciplinary teams.
- An open-minded approach to solving challenges and proactive development of backup plans.
- A mindset trained on long-term goals and objectives, balanced with making demonstratable incremental steps.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of professional experience.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling tools.
- Proficiency with performing thermal and structural analysis, detailed tolerance studies, dimensional fits and clearances analysis, and environmental hardening.
- Proficiency in utilizing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to convey requirements on drawings.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and overcome technical challenges through teamwork and collaboration.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance, if required.
