About the Role
We are seeking a creative individual to join our team as a part-time Social Media Manager, focusing on content and video creation. You will collaborate with the existing Social Media Manager to develop engaging content for platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels, bringing fresh ideas and creative energy both in front of and behind the camera. This role offers the opportunity to shape everyday hostel life into compelling content and experiment with new creative tools.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Social Media Manager to develop, shoot, and produce content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and other social channels.
- Transform ideas into finished content, managing the process from concept to publishing.
- Be comfortable appearing on camera for various content formats.
- Support behind-the-camera shoots and enhance existing content formats.
- Independently edit short-form videos, turning raw footage into engaging, platform-native content.
- Incorporate subtitles, hooks, transitions, music, effects, and graphics to enhance content.
- Assist in developing new recurring formats and improving existing ones.
- Identify and leverage trends, sounds, memes, and cultural moments for content creation.
- Create content within hostels, around Berlin, and at other a&o locations.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions, challenge ideas, and test new approaches.
- Collaborate with the wider Marketing team on campaigns and projects.
- Experiment with AI tools to streamline ideation, production, and editing.
- Contribute personality, ideas, and creative strengths to the role.
- Work with modern creative and AI tools.
- Engage with an international environment with 40+ hostels across Europe as a content playground.
Requirements
- Genuine enjoyment of creative collaboration with others.
- Comfortable appearing on camera and assisting others in content creation.
- Proficiency in video editing, transforming raw clips into finished Reels or TikToks.
- Familiarity with editing software such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
- Experience with creative tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Understanding of TikTok, Instagram, and short-form video beyond basic usage.
- Strong instinct for hooks, pacing, storytelling, and trends.
- Confident smartphone shooting skills; experience with cameras, lighting, and audio is a plus.
- Openness to feedback and collaborative idea generation.
- Curiosity about AI-powered creative tools and their application.
- A portfolio, creator account, university project, or strong examples of personal work are acceptable in lieu of extensive professional experience.
- Proficiency in both German and English for communication and content creation.
- Interest in travel, hostels, cities, and meeting diverse people is a plus.
