About the Role
As a member of a global team with personnel worldwide, this consultant position supports the execution of cross-border M&A (acquisitions, mergers, sales) involving Japanese companies and enhances client corporate value from an organizational and human capital perspective. You will provide integrated advisory services in the organizational and human resources domain, from the initial M&A検討 stage through execution and post-merger integration (PMI). The team supports a wide range of transactions, including business portfolio and operational footprint reviews for major global Japanese corporations, as well as carve-outs, joint venture establishment, organizational restructuring, and personnel redeployment. Working primarily with cross-border deals, this role offers an environment to hone English skills and expertise while collaborating with international teams and senior clients. The team operates across borders, with a 25-year history and approximately 1,400 deals supported annually. In Japan, we advise on top-tier cross-border transactions involving Japanese companies, supporting complex, multi-national deals for leading companies in various industries.
Responsibilities
- Project management, including multiple issues related to deal objectives, transaction structures, and country-specific regulations.
- Identify, assess the criticality of, and support the implementation of risk mitigation strategies for organizational and human capital aspects of M&A.
- Provide advice on deal execution, negotiation support, and optimize project operations.
- Design and execute all aspects of PMI (HR system revisions/integration, value-up measures, etc.).
- Acquire follow-on business through high-quality delivery and manage revenue (with KPIs).
Requirements
- Understanding of and strong interest in organizational and human capital challenges in cross-border M&A (strong motivation).
- Experience in global project management within a consulting firm, OR experience in project management related to overseas operations within a corporate planning, management control, or HR department of a company.
- Business-level English proficiency (TOEIC score of 850 or higher recommended). This includes creating documents in English (including translation between Japanese and English), communicating with overseas teams via email and meetings, and facilitating meetings connecting overseas teams and clients, as the role primarily involves international projects.
