About the Role
LCRA is seeking a motivated Electrical Engineering Intern passionate about power systems to join our Transmission Operations team. This role offers the opportunity to acquire hands-on experience in a real-time operations environment, work alongside experienced engineers, and gain practical exposure to operating and planning the electric grid. This is an ideal place for ambitious individuals to begin their journey in electrical engineering, contributing by optimizing code, running power flow studies, and providing fresh ideas.
Responsibilities
- Perform progressively responsible engineering assignments involving electrical engineering and power system principles under limited supervision.
- Contribute to power flow analyses supporting the safe and reliable operation of the transmission grid.
- Acquire practical exposure to industry tools like PSSE, PowerWorld, and Energy Management Systems.
- Support outage planning and system reliability assessments for major transmission projects.
- Receive mentorship from engineers with knowledge in Operations, Planning, Development, and Construction.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited university/college program in junior year or has completed junior year and will be starting senior year.
