About the Role
The Manager, Tax will support Canadian tax compliance, reporting, and related tax matters for Brookfield’s Private Equity Group. This hands-on role involves managing key tax compliance and reporting processes, reviewing work, identifying and resolving tax issues, and supporting the maintenance of investment and holding structures. The role offers career development in a dynamic work environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the quarterly tax provision in accordance with IFRS and US GAAP.
- Manage the preparation of Canadian tax compliance for private equity funds and related entities, largely outsourced to external providers.
- Coordinate with external auditors and internal stakeholders to gather information and ensure timely, accurate tax filings.
- Assist with tax aspects of internal reorganizations, distributions, and other transactions.
- Prepare and review various tax calculations and track tax attributes, including requisite documentation.
- Prepare responses to audit queries and information requests from taxation authorities.
- Facilitate tax instalments and other tax payments as required.
- Develop effective working relationships with senior team members and external tax advisors, coordinating their work on compliance and advisory matters.
Requirements
- CPA/CA designation with a minimum of 5 years of tax experience.
- Completion of the CPA in-depth tax program(s) or Master of Taxation.
- Corporate tax experience in an accounting firm or industry with a large tax group.
- Experience with Canadian tax compliance and tax accounting.
- Experience with corporate income tax audits by the Canada Revenue Agency.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic environment.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to effectively communicate with internal and external parties.
- Desire to learn and further develop skills across tax and finance.
