About the Role
Arbor Neuroscience is seeking a leader to define and expand its human neuroscience program, focusing on clinical impact and the design of studies using functional ultrasound imaging and focused ultrasound neuromodulation. This foundational role involves shaping the organization's approach to applied neuroscience, identifying target conditions and symptoms, and ensuring scientific advancements translate to patient benefit. The position also contributes to preclinical animal work, research platform development, and modeling efforts, with a focus on patient-centric outcomes and external collaborations.
Responsibilities
- Lead Arbor's thinking on clinical scientific direction, including disease and symptom targets.
- Lead the scientific design of the human program, encompassing targets, tasks, stimulation strategy, and outcome measures.
- Run human studies hands-on, collaborating with scientific and clinical staff.
- Interpret results with the analysis lead and computational collaborators.
- Build and evaluate external partnerships with clinical teams and prioritize collaborations.
- Advise animal and modeling programs on clinical relevance.
- Assess potential collaborators and guide platform usage.
- Write white papers, journal articles, and fundraising materials.
- Hire and build the human science team as the program grows.
Requirements
- Accomplished clinician-scientist or clinically oriented neuroscientist with a substantial independent research record.
- Understanding of psychiatric or neurological dysfunction from a circuits perspective, with clinical grounding in patient populations.
- Considered views on the effectiveness of translational neuroscience.
- Strong network of clinician and researcher colleagues.
- Cross-disciplinary breadth across neurophysiology, neuroanatomy, imaging, clinical assessment, and clinical practice.
- Experience running human studies end to end.
- Direct communication style, willingness to ask questions, and collaborative spirit.

- $210,000 - $320,000 a year
- Some range flexibility for senior or MD-qualified candidates
