About the Role

The Head of Structuring and Solutions is a critical senior role responsible for supporting the structuring of complex deals across HSBC’s Global Trade Solutions (GTS) products. This role focuses on providing technical expertise to sales and client management teams, structuring bespoke open account solutions, and ensuring a high-quality customer experience. Your expertise will be integral to GTS's success in capitalizing on growth opportunities in Structuring, interfacing with various internal and external stakeholders to meet complex client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support the growth of structured propositions in Global Trade Solutions with senior stakeholders in Corporate and Institutional Banking businesses, ensuring origination, requests for proposals, and achievement of revenue targets.
  • Apply technical subject matter expertise to the structuring of complex trade finance solutions across all trade products, including Receivables Finance, Asset Based Lending, Supply Chain, Commodity Trade Finance, and Open Account propositions across geographies.
  • Provide technical expertise and transaction-specific knowledge to product, proposition, sales, and client management teams to ensure correct structuring of fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Execute high-quality service to customers across all segments, maximizing client needs fulfillment and identifying service gaps.
  • Maintain a risk culture, balancing risk and legal obligations with a commercial mindset.
  • Develop strong internal and external networks globally, regionally, and locally to promote and provide input into products, propositions, strategies, and market trends, while offering Australian market expertise to cross-border transactions.
  • Lead the preparation and negotiation of customer-facing documents, pitch books, and indicative term sheets.
  • Provide detailed financial benefit analysis and supporting information for each customer request.
  • Stay abreast of key market trends and competitors' market positions.
  • Support Structured Trade training for the sales and relationship management community.
  • Establish best practices in structuring complex cross-border transactions, interfacing between global, regional, and local colleagues for optimal client service.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of Trade Finance structures globally, with experience in global multinational financial departments, supply chain, pre-export finance, and/or commodity finance.
  • Thorough understanding of Working Capital management.
  • Strong sales mindset and commercial acumen, with a proven track record of closing large ticket structured trade finance deals.
  • Demonstrated success in pitching to internal and external stakeholders, applying in-depth analysis to develop insights and create compelling presentations.
  • Ability to transmit knowledge to the team for potential cross-selling with other Treasury and asset-based lending enhancing propositions.
  • Very strong financial and analytical skills with proactive problem analysis, presenting insights, analysis, and solutions to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good knowledge of Receivables Finance, Asset Based Lending, Supply Chain, and Open Account propositions and business models.
  • Proven ability to navigate and implement within a cross-functional and matrix organizational model, building strong relationships with client-facing stakeholders and internal functions like risk and legal.
  • Ability to act as a strong independent contributor, comfortable working on multiple assignments with culturally diverse, globally distributed teams.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in finance or other relevant discipline.
  • Preference for candidates with Australian Citizenship/PR, New Zealand Citizenship, or unrestricted work rights in Australia.
