About the Role
We are looking for a Solution Engineer to join Microsoft Security, a team dedicated to making the world a safer place. You will be at the forefront of leading security in the AI era, driving customer success by delivering the technical value of Microsoft's cloud services and security platforms. Approximately 75% of your role will involve customer-facing activities like technical proposals, demos, POCs, and workshops, with the remaining 25% dedicated to continuous learning and industry knowledge updates. You will lead customers through technical decisions, both in securing AI applications and agents (Security for AI) and in transforming security operations with AI (AI for Security), covering solutions like Microsoft Security Copilot, XDR, SIEM, and Zero Trust.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for potential customers during the sales process, owning and driving technical wins for security opportunities.
- Maintain a deep technical understanding of Microsoft security architectures, solutions, and technologies.
- Coordinate weekly with sellers and managers to prioritize opportunities, competitive scenarios, and engagements.
- Remediate blockers and ensure technical wins for Microsoft Security and adjacent technologies.
- Proactively and independently engage with customers, building credibility as a trusted advisor for Microsoft Security.
- Develop strategies and recommendations to improve client security posture, shape technical win plans, and tailor Microsoft messaging to the audience.
- Lead technical presentations, demonstrations, workshops, and architecture design sessions.
- Demonstrate and oversee proof of concepts, present architecture patterns, prove capabilities, and drive cross-workload support for Microsoft security solutions.
- Leverage insights and coach teams to align new or changing technology with customer security needs.
- Engage and scale with internal and external teams throughout the sales cycle, including engaging partners in sell-with scenarios.
- Stay knowledgeable and share best practices to enable further scale and growth for the Security business.
Requirements
- 5+ years of technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience, OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience, OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience, OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience developing and delivering customer demos/proofs of concept for Security across competitive offerings.
- Native or business-level Japanese proficiency.

- Readiness for Deployment: Architecture Design, Problem Solving, Quality Assurance, Troubleshooting
- Experience positioning or deploying AI-powered security solutions such as Microsoft Security Copilot, Microsoft Defender XDR automation, or agentic SOC workflows
- Understanding of securing generative AI workloads and agents (AI security posture management, data protection, identity for agents) and of frameworks such as the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications or the NIST AI Risk Management Framework

- 4+ years experience with cloud and hybrid, or on premises infrastructures, architecture designs, migrations, industry standards, and/or technology management
Education Level
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Certification in Microsoft 365 Security Administration or Cloud Security
- One or more industry certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, etc. is preferred
