About the Role

Hannover Re is a major player in the Life & Health reinsurance market in Australia and New Zealand, combining local agility with global financial strength. This permanent role in Sydney is responsible for ensuring prompt claims assessment in line with insurance contract terms and conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Group and Retail life insurance claims portfolios across a range of claim types.
  • Assess claims in line with policy terms, regulatory requirements, and service standards.
  • Respond to claim reviews and participate in discussions on complex cases.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders throughout the claims assessment process.
  • Contribute to projects, process improvements, and ongoing business initiatives.
  • Support strong risk management, compliance, and governance practices.
  • Maintain business processes and documentation.
  • Collaborate across claims, medical, and operational teams to deliver positive customer outcomes.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years' technical knowledge of direct and/or group life insurance.
  • Experience applying insurance legislation and regulatory requirements, including LICOP and RG271.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience using AI-enabled tools in a regulated environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Professional integrity, sound judgement, and a commitment to confidentiality.
  • Unrestricted permanent rights to work in Australia (Australian citizenship or permanent residency only).
