About the Role
Bestow is building the infrastructure that helps the life insurance industry move faster, reach more people, and deliver on its promise. The Pre-Sales Tools team powers tools and experiences that allow insurance agents and distribution partners to quote, configure, and submit applications before checkout. This role is critical as it represents Bestow's B2B front door, ensuring a seamless experience for agents.
Responsibilities
- Build and scale Go services powering agent quoting, configuration, and application-submission tools.
- Partner closely with App & Checkout teams due to tight coupling between surfaces.
- Contribute to architectural discussions and provide direction.
- Resolve partner-specific edge cases as distribution partners and volume scale.
- Write unit and integration tests for code and peer review code from others.
- Use AI coding tools as a default part of the daily workflow.
- Support knowledge transfer to the team through pairing and documentation.
- Follow and improve automation and CI/CD practices.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional backend software development experience.
- Professional experience with Go and comfortable owning services end-to-end.
- Experience with distributed systems or microservices, and designing APIs (REST, gRPC, OpenAPI, Protocol Buffers).
- Experience using Docker for local development and CI/CD as a default practice.
- Demonstrated, day-to-day fluency using AI tools (Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, etc.) in engineering work.
- Comfortable contributing to architectural discussions and picking up mentorship moments.
- Writes idiomatic, maintainable Go services.
- Designs components that hold up under growth and stay maintainable.
- Designs clear, versioned APIs.
- Writes unit and integration tests as a default habit.
- Uses AI tools as a default part of daily engineering work.
- Works effectively across tightly coupled teams and partners.
- Drives own issues to resolution and flags blockers early.
- Diagnoses and resolves issues methodically.
- Explains technical tradeoffs in language that fits the audience.
